Hangover - 2 January 2013
Report by George Rettie

The hangover autotest was held on its traditional date of 2nd January at the premises of Co-op NGT in Selkirk.

The early morning was damp with light rain which ceased before competition started but served to leave the car park nicley slippy.  We managed to run 7 tests and as each competitor had 3 minutes at each test at a total of 21 runs where completed.

The competition was close and exciting throughout the day, it was enjoyed by all.  A large crowd of spectators where present and seemed to enjoy the spectacle.

The day was won by Archie Simmonds whose display of precision driving was a joy to watch.  Close behind in second was Gareth White and in third was Des  Campbell.  Hawick boys David Sloan (Nova) and Sean MacLeod (Micra) went well all day to finish 4th and 5th.  Good to see Ian Maxwell return to the hangover in a smart chevette which unfortunately lost 1st gear in the 3rd test which was a serious handicap for the rest of the day.

As for mechanial maladies affected the performance of some crews during the day but overall everyone enjoyed themselves and made for a successful event.

Thanks go to all competitors for providing a great days entertainment, the marshalls Rob, Ade and Kieran.  Spike for results.  Special thanks to Jock and Gail Hislop for setting tests and scruitineering and Amanda Burney who did sterling work with the stop watch all day.
